Our Beginning
After the Boulder Abortion Clinic closed in April 2025, a group of former staff – doctors, nurses, patient care staff, and the business manager, formed the RISE Collective in May 2025. That October, RISE opened in a temporary space and began providing all trimester abortion care, including later procedures that are critical and life-saving, making it one of only five facilities in the country offering this level of care. The RISE Collective is organized as an LLC, the most secure legal structure to prevent interference from federal agencies.
That same month RISE was founded, another former staff member gathered volunteers to launch the non-profit Boulder Collective. That October, the same month RISE opened in its temporary space – Boulder Collective purchased a 13,000-square-foot building for $2.45 million to become RISE's permanent home, and to provide safe, secure space for other reproductive healthcare providers.
The Boulder Collective Charter
The Boulder Collective is organized as a Colorado based 501(c)(3) non-profit to facilitate charitable contributions toward three critical needs:
To provide secure, long-term leases for reproductive healthcare, eliminating the risk of landlord-initiated termination. The building will be customized to meet each clinic lease partner’s needs.
Use lease proceeds to build the Access Forever Fund, which provides financial assistance to patients who need abortions but cannot afford the procedure.
Establish the Providers Forever Fund to train future medical professionals in providing abortion care, ensuring access continues for generations to come.

Progress So Far
The Boulder Collective seated its inaugural board on August 8, 2025, approved articles of incorporation and bylaws, developed a strategic plan and capital fundraising plan, established its IT platform (Google for Non-Profits, QuickBooks, monday.com, and others), and approved a suite of financial and governance policies. We've also built out an Advisory Council with expertise in finance and investing, philanthropy, non-profit law, accounting, and public relations.
In October 2025, we purchased our 13,000-square-foot building for $2.45 million - RISE's future permanent home. We've since raised $3 million toward the building and its renovation, and need $2.4 million more to complete the buildout, with a target move-in date of December 1, 2026. That renovation budget grew to reflect RISE's plan to double its capacity, from two procedure rooms to four. We've already secured lease agreements and letters of intent for the entire 13,000 square feet, projected to generate roughly $300,000 a year – revenue that will support the Access Forever Fund and Providers Forever Fund once renovation is complete.
In just over a year, Boulder Collective has:
Purchased a 13,000-square-foot building valued at $2.45 million
Donated $100,000 to RISE to equip a procedure room in their temporary location
Provided $40,000 directly toward patient care
Covered initial architectural and engineering fees
Made a $150,000 down payment on a solar array and backup battery, necessary for uninterrupted care
The building has a well-located location, can be secured against violence toward patients, staff, and property, is zoned for medical use, and offers room to expand. All of that groundwork is done – the doors of RISE's permanent home now depend on finishing the buildout.
